In the 1970s, India's educated youth grappled with despair due to a lack of job opportunities. Mr. J. Ramachandran, a visionary, couldn't bear this hopelessness. He founded NAESEY (New Era Association of Educated Self Employed Youth), a voluntary organization that, in tandem with government employment exchanges and MSMEs, generated employment and entrepreneurial prospects for countless educated unemployed youth, both directly and indirectly.
In 1993, he established the Academy for Maritime Education and Training, offering an alternative to traditional education. Rather than competing, he aimed to complement the existing system, making history when AMET Deemed-to-be University evolved into India's first maritime deemed university, recognized by CRISIL and ISO certified. The university earned international acclaim, such as the Seatrade Awards, likened to the Oscars of the Shipping Industry. The driving force behind this transformation is the visionary leader, Dr. J. Ramachandran.
His unwavering commitment to promoting quality professional education extended beyond maritime studies to medical education. Through the Saraswathi Ammal Educational and Charitable Trust, he founded a 550-bed hospital and medical college in Hapur, a medically underserved region in Uttar Pradesh, delivering critical healthcare services.
Dr. J. Ramachandran's entrepreneurial and educational efforts garnered national and international recognition. Awards include the Times of India Edupreneur of the Year (2013) and the Award of Excellence from the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, for his exceptional contributions to the Indian Maritime Industry. York St. John's University conferred an honorary Doctorate degree upon him for his tireless efforts, and he's known globally for his association with NAESEY, often referred to as NAESEY J. Ramachandran. He recently received the "Lifetime Achievement Award 2017" for his outstanding contributions to the global Shipping Industry.
